Disordering the Collection Through Gender
Tuesday to Sunday
Through Sunday, October 11, 2026
10:00 AM
The Museo Nacional de San Carlos reopens its permanent collection through a gender lens, grouping paintings, sculptures, and prints around the body, sexuality, spirituality, and violence. You'll encounter four thematic sections—portraits of women in varied roles, the nude body and gender imaginaries, women in religious painting, and affections, power, and violence—each revealing what was omitted, silenced, or normalized in art history. The museum asks you to see with different eyes.
