Taj Mahal (La Condesa)

Run by brothers Azad and Atik Hosain from India, Taj Mahal brings traditional Indian cooking to Condesa with recipes that stay close to the source. The kitchen turns out butter chicken, chicken masala, saag paneer, meat and vegetable samosas, tandoori plates, and biryani — all seasoned with the kind of spice and heat you'd actually find in India.

The garlic naan is baked fresh and pairs well with beef masala or aloo gobi (cauliflower and potato curry). Mango and cardamom lassis balance the bold flavors. Portions run on the smaller side, so order a few dishes to share and get the full range. The service is quick and the staff knows the menu well enough to guide first-timers through the spice levels.
