Ensamble A Contratiempo brings Una tierra que mira al mar to Sala Carlos Chávez, a programme exploring the dialogue between jazz and Afro-Venezuelan musical traditions. The concert features original pieces and arrangements of works by Vicente Emilio Sojo, arpa llanera pioneer Juan Vicente Torrealba, Hugo Blanco, and Aldemaro Romero, architect of the Onda Nueva movement that reshaped Venezuelan popular music in the 1970s. The ensemble performs on traditional instruments including Venezuelan harp, cuatro, leona bass, and saxophone.
