The Sounds of Latin America: Dúo Tlakuikatl
Dúo Tlakuikatl brings clarinet, saxophone and piano together for a journey through Latin American chamber music, from Guastavino's beloved Argentine sonata to Márquez's Danzón No. 5 and works drawing on Brazilian popular music, Mexican son and the traditional sounds of Guerrero. The programme spans generations and borders, with pieces by composers including Piazzolla collaborator Pablo Ziegler, Viviana Danón, José Elizondo and Ailem Carvajal-Gómez. Sala Carlos Chávez provides the intimate setting this repertoire deserves.
