Sala Nezahualcóyotl

Opened December 30, 1976, Sala Nezahualcóyotl is one of Latin America's best concert halls, designed by architect Orso Núñez with acoustician Christopher Jaffe — its sound quality draws frequent comparisons to Leipzig's Gewandhaus. The hall seats 2,177 and serves as home to the Orquesta Filarmónica de la UNAM, with a stage, sightlines, and acoustics that make it the preferred venue for musicians throughout Mexico.

The building sits on the Centro Cultural Universitario campus, with a mirador overlooking the sculpture walk — six abstract works in stone, metal, and concrete representing geometric aestheticism. Events start promptly; late arrivals wait until intermission. Bathrooms are on the lower level if the main floor is full.
