Letras de Tepito

Matamoros, Av. Ricardo Flores Magón, Peralvillo, Tlatelolco, Cuauhtémoc
Cuauhtémoc

Giant monument letters unveiled in November 2022 at the entrance to Tepito — the barrio bravo known since Nahuatl times as Teocaltepiton, or "small temple." The sculpture pays homage to local icons like El Santo and Resortes, as well as to the neighborhood's sonideros and tireless comerciantes who've defined the area's street market culture for generations.

The letters sit at Matamoros and Av. Ricardo Flores Magón, not deep inside the barrio itself. Sundays bring the biggest crowds thanks to the Lagunilla tianguis and Pulgas market on the Reforma side — expect live sonidero music, street food, and a mix of locals and curious visitors coming for the photo op.
