Founded by the National Institute of Fine Arts in 1951, this public gallery sits in the heart of Peralvillo, right on the edge of Tepito. The space has a long history of showcasing work by local artists from the neighborhood, giving visibility to Tepito's cultural production and challenging outside perceptions of the barrio.
The gallery is relatively small but well-organized and climate-controlled, with rotating exhibitions that often focus on street culture, signage, Chicano art, and the traditions of the surrounding community. Admission is free. The space is accessible by Metro or Metrobús; if arriving on foot from outside the neighborhood, keep your wits about you — the surrounding streets can feel rough.
