Founded in 2000 as a cultural intervention project in one of Mexico City's most densely populated and underserved areas, FARO Oriente offers over 100 workshops in artistic and artisanal disciplines, all free to the community. The facility includes three art galleries, a theater, the Alejandro Aura Library, a game room, and a cineclub, spread across a large campus decorated with impressive murals.
Programming runs from drawing and dance to video art and music, with regular concerts, theater performances on Sundays, and rotating exhibitions. The grounds are extensive and include green areas, though some sections show wear. There's a weekly Wednesday tianguis (street market) along the perimeter, and ample parking on-site.
