Coordinación Nacional de Literatura

Housed in Casa Leona Vicario — named for the independence heroine who once lived here — this 16th-century mansion serves as the national coordination office for literature under the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes (INBA). Founded in 1956 as the Departamento de Literatura, the agency has worked from this historic building since its early days, and poet Xavier Villaurrutia himself may have occupied a rooftop room here at one point.

Beyond the bureaucracy, the space occasionally hosts literary programming including the "Cartas que hicieron historia" series exploring significant intellectual friendships through correspondence.
