Founded in 1863 by prominent members of Mexico City's Spanish community, Casino Español is the oldest Spanish social center in Mexico — a private club housed in a stunning colonial-era building in Centro Histórico. The interior architecture alone is worth seeing: elaborate period details, grand salons, and an ornate central courtyard that make it a popular choice for weddings and private events.

The club's restaurant serves traditional Spanish cuisine with a Mexican touch: cured Spanish ham, serrano croquettes, Galician-style octopus, onion soup, and the clerigos dessert are all part of the menu. Service is formal and attentive, and the dining room fills up quickly on weekends — expect a wait if you arrive after 2pm without a reservation. Valet parking available.
