Café La Habana

This old-school café is where Che Guevara and Fidel Castro reportedly met to plan the Cuban Revolution in the 1950s — a detail that still draws intellectuals, history buffs, and curious travelers to its tables. The space is large and evokes mid-century Cuba, with decor referencing cigars, rum bottles, and old Havana-style bar seating alongside classic merendero tables from Mexico City's historic center.

The menu mixes traditional Mexican breakfast staples — chilaquiles, enchiladas verdes, enfrijoladas — with Cuban-style coffee that's strong, aromatic, and the real deal. The cappuccino de rompope and concha de nata are standout combinations, and the café alone is worth the visit. After 11pm, the kitchen stops serving food and shifts to coffee and pan dulce only.

It's open until 1am most nights, making it a solid late option for coffee and conversation. No parking on-site, but there are several public lots nearby. The Juárez metro station is a short walk away.
