Café Kowlaan

Open since November 14, 1991, Café Kowlaan serves a dual menu of Mexican and Chinese dishes in a sprawling, old-school Tacubaya space. The steamed buns (panes al vapor) are a standout — affordable, fresh, and nothing artificial about them — along with generous portions of chop suey, fried rice, and sweet-and-sour chicken.

The dining room is large with plenty of tables, a fish tank at the entrance, and a casual, family-friendly atmosphere. Service is quick, and you pay at the counter on your way out.
